![]() on April 16th, 1964, after a three-hour session at Abbey Road, Harrison had made this Lennon-written raver his own: with his harmonic rain in the opening chord the pearly ring of his guitar in the circular fade-out and that solo, an ascending run of notes with a runaround flourish, doubled on piano by George Martin. Outtakes of the Beatles working on the title song from their first feature film show Harrison fighting his way to excellence: jabbing at half-formed ideas, even fumbling notes, on his twelve-string Rickenbacker. But double-tracking, with one take a hair out of phase with the other, gives the break a unique watery quality, as if it’s coming from a wobbly old Sun Records 45. Harrison added his guitar solo a month later, on February 25th, at EMI’s Abbey Road studios. The Beatles rushed through “Can’t Buy Me Love” in a Paris studio on January 29th, 1964, on a day off of sorts from a three-week grind of shows at the city’s Olympia Theater. But Harrison italicizes his real sense of loss (“I know I’ll never be the same”) with a brief fierce solo that sounds like he’s spitting nails through his guitar. Written on tour in August 1963, while Harrison was bedridden with illness in a hotel, “Don’t Bother Me” is, on the surface, about getting over a departed lover. The first Harrison song to appear on a Beatles album – With the Beatles in Britain 1964’s Meet the Beatles in America – is also Harrison’s first song about suffocating celebrity. Harrison’s most memorable contribution, however, is his closing chord, played under the last “Yeah!” Producer George Martin recalled hearing the Beatles run through the song on acoustic guitars at the July 1st, 1963, session: “I thought it was great but was intrigued by the final chord, an odd sort of major sixth … like a Glenn Miller arrangement.” It became the unorthodox icing on the Beatles’ first million-selling single. ![]() Harrison’s Gretsch Country Gentleman punctuates the frantic vocal magic with big, rippled chords and choked-riff interjections bearing strong traces of Chuck Berry. Harrison’s tightly wound phrases are dunked in cavelike echo and set in a growling register, an ingenious contrast to the high-pitched vocals of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Half of the single (with “I Want to Hold Your Hand”) that fired the Beatles to Number One in America in February 1964, “I Saw Her Standing There” features Harrison’s first guitar solo on an official Beatles release, recorded on February 11th, 1963, during the daylong session that yielded the bulk of the British LP Please Please Me. George Harrison‘s immense contribution to rock & roll guitar starts here. History Xbox One at E3 2013 alongside the Xbox 360 E model Production of all Xbox One consoles ceased at the end of that year. The system was succeeded by the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, which launched on November 10, 2020. A high-end model, named Xbox One X, was unveiled in June 2017 and released in November it features upgraded hardware specifications and support for rendering games at 4K resolution. It was praised for its smaller size, its on-screen visual improvements, and its lack of an external power supply, but its regressions such as the lack of a native Kinect port were noted. The original Xbox One model was succeeded by the Xbox One S in 2016, which has a smaller form factor and support for HDR10 high-dynamic-range video, as well as support for 4K video playback and upscaling of games from 1080p to 4K. Its Kinect received praise for its improved motion-tracking accuracy, its face recognition logins, and its voice commands. Its original user interface was panned for being nonintuitive, although changes made to it and other aspects of the console's software post-launch received a positive reception. Its quieter and cooler design was praised for making the console more reliable than its predecessor at launch, but the console was generally criticized for running games at a technically lower graphical level than the PlayStation 4. The Xbox One received positive reviews for its refined controller design, multimedia features, and voice navigation. The console optionally included a redesigned Kinect sensor, marketed as the "Kinect 2.0", providing improved motion tracking and voice recognition. The console can play Blu-ray Disc, and overlay live television programming from an existing set-top box or a digital tuner for digital terrestrial television with an enhanced program guide. Games can also be played off-console via a local area network on supported Windows 10 devices. The console places an increased emphasis on cloud computing, as well as social networking features and the ability to record and share video clips or screenshots from gameplay or livestream directly to streaming services such as Mixer and Twitch. Xbox One's controller was redesigned over the Xbox 360's, with a redesigned body, D-pad, and triggers capable of delivering directional haptic feedback. Moving away from its predecessor's PowerPC-based architecture, the Xbox One marks a shift back to the x86 architecture used in the original Xbox it features an AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) built around the x86-64 instruction set. An eighth-generation console, it mainly competed against Sony's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo's Wii U and later the Switch. Microsoft marketed the device as an "all-in-one entertainment system", hence the name "Xbox One". It is the first Xbox game console to be released in China, specifically in the Shanghai Free-Trade Zone. It was first released in North America, parts of Europe, Australia, and South America in November 2013 and in Japan, China, and other European countries in September 2014. Announced in May 2013, it is the successor to Xbox 360 and the third console in the Xbox series. Mehdi explains that Microsoft wants to and "can do it," but it's seeking feedback before any future changes are made. "We are completely committed to the digital vision we laid out, and we plan and intend to deliver all the things we said before," Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi tells us. Despite the changes not being very different to how things are today with the Xbox 360, Microsoft says it still wants to bring the improved digital sharing features, that it has retreated from, to the Xbox One in time. ![]() You must have successfully completed a state-approved National To apply for national registration as an EMT-Basic with the NR- EMT, you must meet the following requirements: This limits the number of questions delivered as well as increases the accuracy. The exam will end at the point when there is a 95% certainty that the candidate’s true ability is above or below the passing standard. At this point in the exam, the application algorithm calculates an ability estimate for this candidate and begins delivering questions that are slightly harder and slightly easier than the candidate’s ability.Īs the CAT exam progresses, the ability estimate gets more and more precise as the pattern of right-to-wrong answers stabilizes around the candidate’s true ability. The questions then become slightly easier and the candidate will begin to answer correctly again. If the candidate answers the question correctly then a slightly more difficult question will be delivered.Īs the difficulty of the questions increases, eventually, the candidate will start to answer questions incorrectly. If a question asked is above a candidate’s level of ability, they have a high probability of answering incorrectly. If a question is asked that is below the candidate’s level of ability, the probability is high for the candidate to answer the question correctly. The first questions on the exam are generally just below the passing standard. They are rated along the same ability scale as the candidate is exhibiting proficiency. Take Part In The Nissan Ariya Discussion Here What are your thoughts on Nissan's new EV? Please let us know in the comment section below. We're looking forward to learning more about the Ariya in the coming months leading up to its launch. So while the Ariya will be a much more capable EV than the LEAF, buyers that are shopping in the ~$30,000 price range (pre-subsidiaries) will lose one of the options available to them today once the LEAF is retired. Nissan tells us the starting price will be about $40,000 in the US which is roughly $8,000 more than than the starting price of a LEAF S. The Ariya is expected to launch about a year from now in Japan, with availability in the US and Europe before the end of 2021. 130 kW DC fast charge isn't great by today's standards, but it is good enough and certainly an upgrade from the LEAF. ![]() We are particularly happy to see that Nissan is using a large battery that will offer 300 miles of range and that they are finally using a proper thermal management system. For the e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive variant, Nissan adds another motor in the rear which increases the power figures to a very respectable 389 hp with 443 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel-drive Ariya has 215 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. It seems to us, just looking at the pictures that the Ariya has ample cargo space, so we're not sure how they arrived at only 16.5 and 14.6 cu ft of space. ![]() Nissan representatives are looking into the cargo space numbers to make sure the figures posted in the release aren't a mistake. ![]() To put that into perspective, the much-smaller BMW i3 has 15.1 cu ft of cargo space and the similarly-sized Ford Mustang Mach-e offers 29 cu ft of cargo volume. The specifications sheet states the Ariya has 16.5 cu ft (467 liters) of cargo volume for the front-wheel drive version, and 14.6 cu ft (413 liters) for the e-4ORCE AWD variant. However, it appears the Ariya doesn't have much room for cargo in the rear. We learned the Ariya will not have a front trunk, as Nissan engineers pushed the HVAC system and other components further forward than they usually are to allow for a more roomy interior. The Ariya appears to have ample cargo space, yet the official capacity offered by Nissan is only 16.5 cu ft Cargo space There's a flat floor to offer a more spacious interior look and feel, as well as Zero-Gravity seats wrapped up in Nissan's new "Timeless Japanese Futurism" design language. There's also wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto standard on all Ariya. The Ariya will feature Amazon Alexa to "simplify and organize their lives", as Nissan puts it. Ariya shipped to the US and Europe will have a single Combo chargeport located on the left side front fender. That's because those vehicles need a CHAdeMO inlet, and that will be located on the right front fender. We asked Nissan about that and were told that only the vehicles delivered in Japan will have two chargeports. You may notice in the photo gallery that there are chargeports on both sides of the vehicle. ![]() I asked Nissan for comment on the decision to restrict the AC charging to 7.2 kW and was told that they believe most customers won't notice the difference since people typically charge overnight, and in that case, the slightly slower speed isn't a factor. Most of the new electric vehicles coming out with large batteries are opting for 9.6 kW AC charging, which can significantly reduce the charge time. As for AC Charging, the Ariya will have a 7.2 kW onboard charger which is OK, but not great. |
